Dear Players & Parents,

Welcome to the 2019 season!

Registration is now open via playfootball.com.au. This is an all-new system released by Football Federation Australia and there are a few ongoing issues that the FFA are working through.

We ask that you please register ASAP so our volunteers have time to resolve any issues and to help us manage age group numbers.


Registrations after 31 January are subject to team vacancy.

Important things to note:

  • All players, new and old, must register online via playfootball.com.au 
  • Here is a step-by-step guide to the new registration system.
  • Everyone must create a new account in the Play Football system for 2019
  • For families; create an account for a parent first and then link all children
  • All photos (U10s and up) must be replaced in 2019. You MUST have a head shot ready when you register
  • 2019 Active Kids Vouchers: If your child attends school you can reduce his or her registration fee by $100. Apply for your voucher(s) here and enter your unique code as part of the registration process. 
  • Normal registration period closes midnight 31 January.
  • Registrations from 01 February are subject to team vacancy.
  • Please register in the age group you would like to play - kids can choose to play up an age group if they like and will have the option of two age groups when they register.
  • Please ensure your contact details are up-to-date and accurate: This is essential to ensure you receive team communiques.
  • By registering with Georges River FC you agree to fulfil ground control duties (canteen and/or ground control) on at least (but not limited to) two occasions during the season for every team a player / parent is part of.
  • Contact the Play Football Support Centre (not GRFC) if you have any issues with the new online process.

VERY IMPORTANT: New player ID photos are required for ALL players playing U10s and over. This is because existing photos were not migrated across to the new system. 

You can actually skip uploading a photo, but you cannot to go back and update later so make sure you have a photo ready before you start the process:

  • Headshot only
  • Plain background
  • No hat or glasses (unless approved sport glasses with letter from optician)
  • Clear with good lighting

Selfies are okay, and the new system has some basic editing tools for you to optimise your photo. You can also upload from your smartphone.

The SSFA charges clubs $10 for every card that needs to be reprinted due to photo issues - please help us avoid having to pass these charges on.

Family Discount:

You're eligible for a $65 discount on the 3rd and any subsequent registrations in your family. Apply the 'Family Discount' before paying for the 3rd player from your family then list all playing family members as part of the process.

Traditional Clubhouse Registration:

  • There will be face-to-face registration days in the Clubhouse, Oyster Bay Oval, on 03 and 10 February (9-2pm).
  • This is for new players to show proof of age and address documentation and/or to pay your registration by cash. The gear stall will also be open on these days. 
  • We will have a special orientation session for our U6s to show proof of age and address documents, buy uniforms and form teams on Friday 08 February (5-7pm). Read our U6 FAQs here.

Please note you will still need to register online, rego day is for ID sightings, registration difficulties and cash payments only.

Proof of Age & Address - Players new to the SSFA:

AGE: As per Sutherland Shire Football Association rules of registration, original birth certificates, driver’s licence or passports must be produced by players registering with the Association for the first time as proof of age, these documents are to be sighted by club officials.

ADDRESS: It is an Association requirement that all new players must reside in the Sutherland Shire and need to show proof of residence if registering for the first time. Proof documents may include driver’s licence, council rates, rental agreement or bank statement in your name.

If a child lives outside of the Shire, but attends a Sutherland Shire school, a letter from the school confirming 2019 attendance must be emailed to registrar@grfc.com.au for forwarding to the SSFA.

GRFC Junior Team Grading Days: 03 - 10 February

  • Please bring kids along with their boots (or sneakers) and shin pads as all kids will have a kick on the day. 
  • Grading may not be required for some age groups due to numbers etc.  We will attempt to contact you if this is the case, but please keep an eye on our website and Facebook page for updates.
  • Junior teams from U8 / W08 and up are graded on ability, with U7 / W7s invited to trial for our A / B teams (optional grading)
  • All enquiries relating to grading are be directed in writing to grading.coordinator@grfc.com.au, however please review the club's grading policy and Grading Day FAQs first.

Club Playing Strip and Clothing:

Players will need club shorts ($20) and socks ($10). Juniors will be given a playing shirt on loan for the season. Seniors will also need to buy their own jersey ($45). Our gear stall will be open on rego days, with additional gear nights to be scheduled before the season starts.
