Club News

We have decided to make up lost time for the Tuesday 25 May washed out session by adding 30 minutes to each session on 23 and 30 July. Therefore, for both weeks the 5pm session will finish at 6:30pm and the 6pm session will now start at 6:30pm and finish at 8pm.

Unfortunately we have to postpone Sunday's U6 Day at The Bay due to the wet weather and condition of our main field. We will however plan another date very soon!

With all games cancelled 06 Juky our final Tiger Cub session and graduation ceremony has been moved to 27 July (after the school holidays). Enjoy your sleep in!!

Unfortunately there will be no goalkeeping during the school holidays but (weather permitting) Bob will recommence Thursday 25 July and go through to the Grand Finals if anyone interested.

The council has advised they will be increasing parking patrols at OB on weekends for traffic safety.

There are often cars illegally parking at the corner of Scylla Road and Como Road, with cars parking over the yellow lines which obscures the traffic on Como Road, making it dangerous when you try to exit Scylla Road.

With ~50 games running at The Bay any given weekend, parking can get tricky, but please always consider our neighbours and the safety of drivers/pedestrians.

Greg and Jenny Fleming, from a long-time River family, have just spent an amazing week at the School of St Jude in Tanzania.

The school was established in 2002 to provide gifted and talented children from dirt poor families access to education, including boarding.

A highlight of their trip was having the chance to run around with kids wearing Georges River FC jerseys, which the Flemings took with them, donated by our club. The kids are absolutely adorable and Greg says they were very excited wearing their new jerseys and had a wonderful time.

The Flemings first became aware of the school when their daughter Georgia (in our SWCs) was attending high school and heard about how an ex-student, Gemma Sisia, set up the school, which is entirely funded by sponsorships, and is on a mission to fight poverty through education.

Gemma is seriously changing the world and these kids will lift Tanzania. We'd love you to learn more about the charity here or have a chat to Jenny and Greg when you see them down at The Bay.

You may have noticed some brand new signs the council has placed at Oyster Bay Oval... Please be mindful if you take your dog down for a run as you may be fined if you let it off the leash.
